In 1833 the first print of the song appeared under the title "Vier ächte Tiroler Lieder", which ensured that "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht" spread very quickly, very widely. Today the most famous Christmas carol is sung in over 300 languages. In 1906 Silent Night was broadcast on the radio as a violin solo. It was the second piece of music ever to be heard on the radio.
