Dear colleagues and friends of the fitness industry,
sonicsense has achieved something during the Corona crisis that should make many fitness and wellness providers very happy! As a result of negotiations and the personal commitment of the sonicsense team, GEMA has softened its existing regulations, thus showing its solidarity with all industries that are currently so hard hit by the forced closures - including the fitness industry.
During the crisis period (initially until the end of April 2020), organizers with existing flat-rate or license agreements were allowed to broadcast their events, which had to be cancelled or could not take place due to the current corona crisis, via live stream. A separate licensing of these live streams is not necessary. This also applies to streaming via social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Co.
However, for the use of live streams from broadcasters without existing flat-rate or license agreements, a license for online use is still required: (see tariff VR-OD 10)
For all sonicsense customers with existing GEMA contracts, this means that they can use the sonicsense system as before for course lessons via live stream - even with GEMA-liable music! For all fitness studio operators with existing GEMA contracts, this means that they may accompany their live streaming courses with GEMA-liable music. For fully timed course hours, you will find the perfect music mixes at tunes4sports.de.
