Streaming or radio use at your point of sale?

Time and again we are asked the question, "Can't I just turn on the radio or streaming music in my shop?"

Unfortunately, it is not that simple.

With the purchase of a music CD or a contract with the streaming provider, one only acquires the right to listen to the music in a private setting. Using Spotify, iTunes and all other private services in a business is illegal.

But if you want to play music in your business, e.g. in a fitness studio, shop or restaurant, you have to obtain written permission from the authors, sign a licence agreement and of course pay regular fees to GEMA.

GEMA in Germany and also all other collecting societies abroad charge fees for the area covered by sound. Many new entrepreneurs are not aware of this and are blindsided when they receive a visit or mail from GEMA and receive a retroactive invoice.

sonicsense delivers music licensed specifically for commercial use and offers GEMA check and administration exclusively for sonicsense customers. This allows us to take advantage of potential special discounts granted to us based on our many years of experience with GEMA. As a second option, GEMA-free music can also be played, thus saving a lot of money.
